Cosina Adds Voigtlander 50mm f/1 and 15mm f/4.5 to Nikon Z Mount Line
Cosina has announced that it will release a Nokton 50mm f/1 Aspherical and a Super Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical for Nikon Z-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras.
While Cosina says these lenses have been designed exclusively for Nikon, it is worth noting that it already produces a 50mm f/1 for Leica M-mount rangefinders and a 15mm f/4.5 for Sony E-mount.
Nokton 50mm f/1 Aspherical
The Cosina Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1 Aspherical lens is described as an ultra-fast standard prime for full-frame Nikon Z-mount cameras. As is the case with all of Cosina’s recent Z-mount lenses, the 50mm f/1 was developed in partnership with Nikon and thus features electronic contacts that allow it to communicate with an attached camera. That means that in addition to transferring EXIF information, it works with Nikon cameras that have in-body image stabilization as well as supports focus peaking and focusing via digital enlargement.
The lens is constructed of seven elements arranged in nine groups and in addition to a single aspherical element, the 50mm f/1 uses Cosina’s in-house grinding aspherical (GA) lens as the primary element. It features an aperture range of f/1 through f/16 via a 12-bladed diaphragm. It has a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:6.84, a minimum focusing distance of 0.45 meters (about 17.7 inches), and has a front filter thread size of 62mm.
As is the case with all of Cosina’s lenses for Nikon Z mount thus far, the 50mm f/1 manual focus and aperture control.

The Cosina Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1 Aspherical lens is scheduled to be released sometime in February, although final pricing is not listed on Cosina’s website.
Super Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical
The 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical features a 110-degree field of view that Cosina says displays extremely low distortion and provides sharp image rendering from edge to edge. One other feature that makes the lens stand out is its ability to provide that wide angle of view while still accepting standard filters via its 58mm threads. The metal hood can also be removed with a screwdriver making it possible to use rectangular filters with the lens as well.
As is the case with the 50mm f/1, the Cosina 15mm f/4.5 is optimized for Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras and was built in partnership with Nikon. It features electronic communication for the transmission of EXIF data and support for focus peaking.
The 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical is constructed of 11 elements arranged into nine groups and features an aperture range of f/4.5 through f/22 via a 10-bladed diaphragm. It also features a relatively close 0.126 meter (about 4.96 inches) focusing distance that allows for unique compositions.
